We all wear clothes and sleep on pillows every day, but rarely anyone pays attention to their cleanliness. These items need a proper cleaning after a few uses. And, although most of us wash our clothes regularly, rarely anyone remembers to wash their pillows regularly as well. And it’s not just the pillows – sheets, curtains and towels are also neglected, but not cleaning them often can turn into bigger health problems. This goes especially for pillows – not washing them frequently can lead to serious diseases and conditions!
Although we use them only when we sleep, pillows can actually get very dirty. They are usually white, but tend to get yellowish over time as dirt accumulates on them. Not washing them regularly only makes things worse – this allows dangerous bacteria and germs to grow in the pillows, effectively increasing the risk of dangerous medical conditions. Even worse, once the pillow acquires a yellowish tint, it’s very hard to get rid of it. Washing does nothing to it, and you’ve probably tried numerous different methods to no avail. However, you should know that there’s a simple great trick that will restore your pillow’s natural color and keep them clean again. Here’s what you need to do:
3 l. of clean water
1 cup of sparkling water
½ a cup of lemon juice
Just put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well, then soak the pillows in the mixture for 15 minutes and wash them as usual afterwards. After washing them, leave the pillows to dry in a ventilated place to prevent odors and recover their natural white glow.
