Dates are an excellent source of fiber. They are also rich in sorbitol, a substance that can soften the stool and alleviate constipation in just a few hours.
You can also put some dates in a glass of water and leave them during the night. Take the dates the following morning.
If you suffer from frequent constipation and none of the natural methods help you, go to a health care professional and inform them about your problem.
If you don´t find relief, you can try combining various methods at the same time. For example, you can increase the amount of fiber in your alimentation, go for a walk, take some senna tea or try certain yoga postures. Don´t take more than one type of laxative at the same time.
Food with high percentage of fiber and drinking lots of water not only will alleviate your discomfort, but will also prevent constipation.
Even though it seems difficult, when in the toilet, try to relax and let the bowels (and the gravity) play their role.
Try drinking water with lemon. Lemon acid will soften your stool and facilitate bowel movement.
It is difficult to foretell which method is going to be the right one for you, the level of its effectiveness, and the time when it´s going to start working. Make sure you have the time and availability to use the bathroom when needed.
